cam bearing puller

I have a question regarding a cam puller. I will be doing my first rebuild this spring on an 1850 oliver gasser. I think I have most tools ligned up. The one I am struggling with is a cam bearing puller and installer. Can I use a large socket to remove and install the bearings or am I going to have to bite the bullet and buy the right tool. What does everyone recomend? Thanks for any help

I just rebuilt the engine on my 1650 Gas. When you take the block in to be hot-tanked just have them remove the cam bearing. To install the new one, just use an appropriate sized bearing race driver. Be sure to grease the bearing face a little to prevent scuffing the bearing surface. That's what I did. Also make sure to use the one-piece wrist pin bushings. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me. Also, post your questions on the Oliver board. There are a lot of helpful guys over there. Good luck with your project. Why are you rebuilding, did you break something or just time?
