Hey I have a ON Topic post!!!! Looking at puting Electronic egnition on my 400.
How much are these things and where can I order one I can pay by check? Cut up all the super elastic plastic 2 years ago.

Try your local NAPA or a Case/IH dealer. We bought ours from the CIH dealer years ago. Our local NAPA now carries them. Think the name was Fire Point. Replaces points ignition with pickup and reluctor wheel. No changes needed to the rest of the system . Cost at the time was about $130 per kit (we did 5- 4 on 340's and 1 Super H). Good luck- Pete

Sorry, this site is now limited to off-topic posts only. If your post isn't critical of either external_link or the bail-out or both, please remove it. And as for having no plastic, that's just un-American, and not only will your post be deleted, but you will be barred from ever posting anything, ever again, anywhere. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

BTW- you may want to re-obtain some plastic. I flew on Alaska Airlines recently, and they would only take plastic (no cash) for adult beverages in flight. If that won't throw the fear of cash into ya, nothing will. Hard to imagine a flight to Hawaii without a couple of Scotchs.

I don't know about electronic for brand X (Farmall) but I bought mine for a 520 John Deere right here at Yesterdays Tractor parts sales. Electronic kit, flame thrower coil, and shipping $142. Pretty hard to beat.

nnalert has them. About $85 for the module, $40 for the coil. Have them on both my CA Allis and 60 Oliver. I opened my plug gaps to .045. They both start easy, idle and run smooth as glass.

I've got electronic ignition in both my Deere 105 combines. They always start now, no problems since the modules were installed 5 years ago. I got the modules from our local Deere dealer, so I'd be willing to try your Case IH or New Holland dealer (Case and New Holland are one and the same).

Are you on 6 or 12 volts? If your on 6 volts they wont wont work if you get under 4.5 volts. When I had points as long as the battery had enough power to turn it over it would start. Now, even if it turns over, if the voltage isnt high enough it wont fire. Basically, keep the battery charged up one way or another and you are ok...

I second the idea that you could/should buy from this site to support it. I just looked and they have kits for most all Farmalls, and you can send the order in with a personal check.

I have a couple tractors with 6v pos. and have never had a problem getting it to fire with low voltage. Also I have never upgraded my coil with electronic ignition. Unless somebody has a good reason why I should, the stock coil has held up fine and the electronic ignition works GREAT!.

My last set of points cost 3 bucks 22 years ago.I check the gap when spring work starts. This beats blowing 142 bucks on something I dont need.Tractor starts when I cant.

couple places almost local to you come to mind.
timmer implement in pease,
jc equipment in foley,
(auto value foley too, but we gotta order it).
Timmers may not have on hand, but has accounts with aftermarket suppliers just like the independent guys, so they should be able to get it for you.
