farmall H gen. to alt.

I used a GM 10SI on my H, common for 1972 Chev cars and trucks. It's a tight fit but if you are handy with the brackets it hides under the tin with no modifications. Good belt trick is to cut an old belt and back the pulley off as far as it will go, then pull the belt around the pulleys tight and mark the length. Get your new belt that size or next size under and it should tighten up just fine.

If done right a Delco 10si will fit but it is tight. Ones from say a Toyota pick up truck are smaller and fit better but cost a whole lot more. I have done both and prefer the Delco because they can be picked up for around $35 plus core

A little Hitachi or Mitsubishi from an imported car or truck from the late 70's or 80's will work great.

I just did an alternator conversion on an M and fitted the alternator bracket with 1-1/2 inch slots where it bolts to the head. This allows adjusting the Delco alternator up/down instead of sideways which causes the alternator to hit the hood. Works good with the stock generator belt.
