minus 40 f at trenton ontario this morning. I dont hear any aircraft from the base , do planes fly when its this cold out?
 
RR... ha ha now that was a bit funny. Cold here right now in mid MO. temp drop to 4 - this night. Guess I am lucky when looking at what is happening in their area. Guess that is one of the reason's I never lived up north.
Did find that I have to cut and split a lot more wood next year then I did for now. Going threw it like crazy lately.
 
-40? Wow, and I was complaining about -10 at 6:00 am, here in Pennsylvania. I guess I will be thankful and throw another log on the fire.
 
Northerner, it was -30 Celcius here north of London last night but we are getting snow and winds off of Lake Huron which has not froze over, that moderates our temperature a bit
Where are you in Trenton? I was down there a few months back delivering a trailer home to a park, south on #62, over the bridge and beyond but wasn't too sure where
I think planes get better lift with colder air but then there's the icing factor to contend with.
 
Ya Larry, cut and split more wood:) Me too I know the feeling. It was -4 below here in eastern NY, and I was a little behind getting my wood done the past year. With haying and all. I was able to get the tractor threw the drifts on Tuesday to cut up some nice dead elm. I have about 4 cords left but if I can I'll go out and cut up some standing dead when its not too cold.
We have burned wood for 28 years, lucky I havent gotten tired of it yet. j
 
Aircraft really like this cold dense air. But just like any other motor vehicle- you've got to be able to get it running! Although still possible, icing is very rare at these temps. also.
 
That better lift is a factor of " Density Altitude" which at the moment I am at a loss to explain, has to do with , temperature , dew point , and altitude.
 
Northerner Hang in there its warmin up. Was -40C here in central Sk. two nights ago. Right now its -1C and supposed to go to +7C by Monday. We know we will pay for it later Canuck 4
