Snowblower....hydraulic chute design...

I am going to put a hydraulic rotated chute on my McKee snowblower. I posted this a while back, but never got anywhere. I need a "sprocket" about 16 or 22" in diameter, roughly. I will know exactly tonight....Any idea on where to get such a critter???

Just a thought.

I looked at one a guy took small motorcycle chain and bolted it to the chute. Basically at the center so it would turn 90 degrees each way from there. Welded stops at 90 each way also.

Then hooked the chain up to the motor. Had a little homemade bracket with an idler sprocket to take out the slack.

Not sure how it worked but looked simple.

We have one of those setups on ours and so long as you keep the chain relatively tight,no problems at all, usually only tighten it once a year.

I had intentions of using a drive sprocket from a barn cleaner reduction unit for that purpose. I monted the sprocket, and it fit up... but I never finished it since the blower wasn't worth bothering with.
I think the sprocket would work fine tho.
Otherwise, Princess Auto or one of those type stores would sell blank sprockets of tha size for probably 30-50 bucks.

What model of McKee do you have? I have an old JD 270 (built by McKee). Care to post any pics? Don't often see old snowblowers in good condition. What tractor do you run it behind?
