What has been the most tempurature swing you have seen in less than a 24 hour period. Around the 3rd of January of 2009 we had a high of high of 66 on Friday and a high of 14 on Saturday. 52 degrees diff. A year ago Dec. we went from a -22 low to +29 high the next day. Later, Funtwohunt
 
Well I don't think Globol warming is happening in most the states around here. lol Talk of 1 degree in morning coming and that's not the wind chilled.
 
Not the widest swing I've seen, but when I got home from work yesterday afternoon it was 28 degrees, when I went to bed it was 40, when I got up this morning it was 14, and it's now 4.
 
When Mt. St. Helens erupted in 1980, it blew the surrounding air up into the stratosphere, then cold air from up there rushed back down to replace it, and fanned out from the mountain in all directions- temperature dropped about 30 degrees in less than a minute, in a gust of wind. Soon warmed back up, of course, when cold air mixed with the warm. But quite an effect, at the time.
 
On Christmas Eve 1983 it was -43 in Great Falls MT. By Christmas morning it was up around 0 and by midafternoon it had climbed to around 32 above.
 
Watertown, NY is less than an hour away from me, and we had a bit more of a swing than they did last night--their NWS data shows it going from -8F to -22F in less than an hour. We bottomed out a bit below that, and it's going to be colder yet the next two nights.

I wasn't around for this, but it's my favorite weather oddity here in Oklahoma...

"Blue Norther" - November 11, 1911. 11/11/11 is the only date left in the record books on which the existing record high and record low temperatures were recorded on the same day. An Arctic front, also known as a "Blue Norther," roared into the state and plunged the temperature reading at Oklahoma City from an afternoon high of 83°F to a midnight low of 17°F. The temperature fell to 14°F on the morning of the 12th - a drop of 69 degrees in less than 24 hours.
