Hey folks,
My Brother just sent me a video advertising the new line of 1965 Chevrolets. Had the Bonanza crew (Ben and the 3 boys), The Man From Uncle, and the Bewitched pair and MIL. Thought it was great. Anyone seen it? If anyone wants it, I can email it but it's almost 6mb.

I can remember watching those commercials at the time. What's that say about me? Especially since I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday.

There was one like that in 1964 also, announcing the new Chevelle. I think it's those commercials that got me hooked on Chevys.

Did you know that the first episode of Bonanza has words to the music, sung by Ben Cartwright AKA Lorne Greene? Later got redone by Johnny Cash.

What I remember best about those Chevy ads was Elizabeth
Montgomery, much more eye catching than Dan Blocker.

My first was a new 66 Impala 327 4 bbl. 2833.00 out da door everything. Rode the bus to Detroit and drove it home.

I have had a few cars that I wish now that I had kept:
53 Chev Bel-Air 2dr ht
55 Ford Failane 2 dr ht
60 Chev.Bel-air 2dr ht
63 Chev Impala 2 dr ht
Had a couple of Chry.products,no attachments there.
Never had a 57 Chev. Still likes the looks of those.

I didn't buy it new,but my first car was a 63 Impala SS 2 door hardtop. White with light blue bucket seats,283 automatic on the console. One sweet car!

1966 Chevy Super Sport...This one didn't get away !! We bought it new and still have it....drives like a dream......
The Chevy plant in Janesville Wisconsin shut down production for good on Dec. 23rd 2008.
They had a public open house tour 11/10/08 so we took the Chevy back to it's birthplace and took some pictures after the tour. We ordered it on Oct 15th 1965 and Dec. 10th 1965 is when they delivered it to the dealer and we picked it up. 43 years...... where has the time gone ?

Real sorry to hear about that plant closing. Lived there back in 1989. GM was the main employer. Dont know if it was still that way but I bet it was. I knew quite a few people who worked there or for the company that transported the vehicles.
After they kill all our unions and send all the manuafacturing some where else.
I wonder if they will open a few plants that make cast toys to send to Japan?

Gosh that's sweet. My favorite Chevy of all time was the '66 Impala, even though I never had a '66 myself. Parents had '61, '64, '65, '66, and '70 Impalas. I had a '58 Impala, and 396 '68 and '69 Impalas, but never a '66. '68 and '69 396, '70 402, and '71 454 Elcaminos. My brother had a '69 396 Chevelle, and a cousin a '69 427 Chevelle. Mr. Hopper down the road had a '69 L88 Vette, and Tim and Pat Marshall had their Camaros and Novas. Most everyone we knew had Chevys, even the Stamper kid that had a '68 Camaro with a 250 inline that could lift the front tires off the ground when we got done with it. We were swappin 427's for 396's like drinkin sodas, and if the 302 Camaro got beat, home to swap in a 327 and back out in about 2 hours. That Stamper kid though, he liked that 250 inline, and it could giddy up, but was no real match. Did go to high school though with a kid that inherited his grandmother's fully loaded '66 396 Caprice, but he just wouldn't let us touch that thing. It was sharp...black vinyl over blue. Was sweet.

Thanks for the memories. What happened to them days? Was even a kid down the road bought a new '70 429SCJ Torino, and Buddy with his '69 440 six pack Road Runner, but were no match for even a L78 Camaro. Dogs, both dogs. Now Donnie with his '69 Road Runner and GTX, both Hemis were tough. I have to admit that they were tough. Real tough. And was some kid with a '69 Hemi GTS Dart that used to come visit a neighbor girl that was tough too. That car would lift the front, then the back, and then just bounce them front tires down the road. 427's would take it though. Was no nitrous back then, only know how to build motors and M22's to twist as far as could.

Gosh, thanks for the memories. I do sincerely appreciate them. Thanks again, and happy New Year. I'll sleep with a smile on my face tonight thanks to you. Memories.

The Sheriff deputies had '68 and '69 427 Impalas, and they could get it too. Radios weren't as good back then as they are today though, but really didn't need to be. Break off a pursuit back then? Never. HaHaHaHa. HaHaHaHa. Ahh, the good old days.
