I finally got them all posted

When I grew up we had a Guernsey family milk cow I milked everday. She was the sweetest dispostion cow ever.Great pics, congratulations.

I know what you mean, beautiful animals.I worked on a dairy when in high school. I wanted to dairy but didn't have the money to start. I took heifer calves from the first calf heifers that were bred hereford for part of my pay. I raised them and with my 4-H sheep got my start in farming. Never did dairy but the experience and love for the animals is still there. Something about working so closly with them everyday gets under your skin....James

Thank you for the photos & comments. My Grandfather milked just a few Jersey cows when I was young. If a cat was around, he'd put a little milk in a pan for the cat. Later on we had a few beef cattle. The day I had to see them off at the local stockyard (I was 18) was a day I do not forget, if you know what I mean. It was difficult to see them go. Mark SW Wis.

Wow,thank you for posting the beautifull pictures.Few things in life posess more pride than holding the halter of a great show cow.We still milk but haven't shown in the last bunch of years. My oldest is now 9 and in his first year in 4H so hopefully in the next few years will be back at it again.Funny,my wife and I were just last night talking about places we want to travel to and WDE was one of the ones mentioned.By the way, what's the cow scored?

Guernseys are just about "extinct" around here. The cow by the pond is especially gorgeous- bet she's won many a grand champ ribbon. Thanks for the pictures.

I recognize the first pic, right infront of the Alliance Energy Center. I go to Expo every year. I only have 4 milk cows now and don't show any but it is a great place to go learn and get re-energized about the dairy industry. Man there are alot of barns to walk thru now, seemed like counting the tents there were 11 this year.

Nice that you've got something to give reasons to like it. After 33 years of it,I've like the last 5 years since I quit a lot better.

Idle Knot Perfect Nancy scored Excelent 90 and placed 4th at the WDE two years in a row and several other high placings,Including Grand champion at Sooner state show. The young heifer Idle Knot PK Olivia was 6th at WDE the year the picture was taken went on to be 2nd two year old at Oklahoma City State Fair 1st Age cow and Sr & Grand champion at Sooner State show. Yearling being held by the young Lady Idle Knot Hellion Natasha is a Gt grand daughter of Nancy and was 1st yearling at Iowa State Fair 5th at WDE and 6th at Louisville When you go to the big National show and are a little breeder and get in the top ten you have done well. The young lady holding Natasha was a FFA Star Farmer and Oklahoma Dairy Queen. Idle Knot Farm gave her and her sister each a Guernsey heifer and both have done well. The little sister was Oklahoma Guernsey Princess. These two girls are two out of three young 4-H or FFa member we have helped. One of the three never carried on and we took the heifer back.
