Happy NEw Year to all you tractor guys out there. Im actually a Red guy but there are a lot of nice Green things out there. The question I have is about a luc engine I have. Its all there and turns over so thats a good thing. There is no seril tag on it. Could you tell me how I find out the year and if it is a Hercules motor or not. I know it veries but what would it be worth? Thank You in advance. Hope everyone has a great year and spring is just around the corner. Thanks.
 
LUC would be same engine as in the styled L tractor and would be a John Deere, the Hercules were only in the unstyled L tractors and the combine it would have been used on was not made untill 1939 when the styled tractors came out. And it was not powerfull enough for the 7' combine so would have been used only on the 11-11A, 12-12A machines
 
The tag would of been on the angle iron framework the engine sits in. Same bore and stroke as an LA and as for worth ?
I have been trying to sell a complete VERY nice original for $500 with no luck at all so they must be worth less then this.
 
Never knew the size was LA size, always thought they were L size. So would be 41-46 in year?
