What would be an average price for a running John Deere 50 narrow front end, no 3pth, no power steering? What would an average parts john deere 50 tractor with good rear tires, no 3pth ,no power steering and narrow front end be worth. The engine is loose and tractor is apart?? Any help? Thanks.

Pa had a beautiful original 50 that I sure wanted after he died. That was 18 yrs. ago. Mother said to be fair to all siblings she will have a public auction with all the farm equip. If you want something, buy it. I didn't have the money then so a neighbor bought it for $1475. Two years ago he came to me and said he was going to sell it and wanted to give me first chance. I asked how much? He said $3300. I thanked him for first chance but declined. I had the money but somehow after all these years it just didn't have the same meaning to me. Six mo. ago I ran into him and asked who bought Pa's 50. He said it never sold.

I've seen some as high as $2600 and others at $500. Depends on how bad a person wants it. The 50 was the replacement for the B. They made 300,000 of those with several getting melted down at war time.

exactly 300,000 according to Deere. With no way of proving 300,000 I never believed that number. Same with the A exactly 300,000. IH and AC at least kept track. Sorry, it's just a peeve I can't get over.

Whats so hard to believe? Deere has records of every one of those tractors and what branch house they were shipped to. I have had serial number searches done and they have information on almost all Waterloo built tractors. Granted there are blocks of serial numbers that didn't get used throughout production, just as there are with many companies. It is not unusual after a big change that might occur in the middle of a production run, to skip a block of serial numbers and start again with a rounded number.

Well I have looked in depth at the numbers and as far as the A goes the numbers are more like 260,000. Not the claimed even 300,000. I haven't looked at the B numbers as closely but I'm sure the 300,000 number is off by at least the same amount. Tally up the numbers once. It's a daunting task and even then I could only come up with what I consider to be a reasonable guess. I could give you all my data if you want. If I can still find it.
