o/t homework question re religion class

my daughter is a high school freshman and in her religion class they were talking about the 3 wise men and the gifts they brought Jesus. teacher gave them an assignment, what gift would you give Jesus if he were alive today. it is an oral presentation, and i cant for the life of me come up with something intelligent. any ideas????
 
Glennster, I hope I don't sound like I'm being "holier than thou", because I know that attitude causes more harm to Christianity than good, but I believe that Jesus is alive today, and the greatest gift we can give Him is our love.

As others have stated all he wants is our love and for us to do his will......

Aside from that, a tangible thing to give Him if he were "physically here" for me would be the cell phone number of a freind of mine that doesn"t know him.... A referral, cause that demonstrates our love for somebody else....
 
I would just have her thank him for puplic schools. You guys no any religious sites where I can discuss old tractors ?

just wanted to say thank you everybody for the help on this one. Chris, hope i didnt offend you with the question, but i just plain drew a blank on this. been way too many years since i was in school.
 
No offense taken. It seems an absurd question. I can give absurd answers, he was a carpenter, how about a complete 18 volt DeWalt cordless tool set? He liked to fish, perhaps a boat with a sonar fish finder ? Seriously, the day that assingement was due I would be in my daughters classroom to see how it goes. The teacher may very well have to explain to the principal and me the point of the question. Who knows, maby I am missing something.
 
How about a sheep, male, 1 year old, no defects, to sacrifice and die in your place for your sins.

Jesus is still alive today, just as the Spirit or Holy Ghost, not in physical form.

Thats what I remember. Its been a while I could be wrong. Now having humor...

The DeWalt powerpack comment is funny. But if Jesus is all-knowing and can do anything, can"t He just "will" his next project? He really doesn"t need any tools does He? Just His Almighty power.

I have talked to a quite few people who have taken Religion as an elective in college. All are convinced the professors are non-believers who are trying to convince you the Bible is a farce the entire semester.

Listen to the song "If Jesus came to your house". Might help you out. I think I would give him the gift of Love, Thanks, and respect, and a bite to eat if He was hungry. Shoes if He was barefoot, and a coat if He was cold. rw
 
Well Chris, Glenn mentioned in the topic it was a question regarding religion so you could have just skipped it. If someone asks a question about cotton pickers or magneto's I usually don't bother reading them because I don't know or care about either.
As for the teacher having to explain the question to the principal, I'm sure he's aware there's a class on religion at the school, so there's no need to explain anything to him. Perhaps you should look up the significance of the presents the wisemen brought to Jesus and that would help explain the point of the question to you. Maybe the teacher is trying to show what would be valued today.
 
Been a long time since I believed in anything religious but I didn't think he was a carpenter. I thought his Pa was the carpenter.
 
No offense meant to anyone in particular, but I'm impressed that one answer was to give him food, clothing, or other sustenance if he was in need...on the same forum where the predominant response to someone who's lost a job and is broke is that it's probably his own fault, and he should get off his a_ _ and do something for himself.

Did Jesus not say that, when we feed the hungry and clothe a stranger, we have done that for Him also? And if that's so, is it not also correct to say that whenever we turn away from helping our fellowman, we are turning away from Him also?

Just some food for thought.
 
What state do you live in that permits a religion class? I knows it is not California, but kids can learn about the nnalert religion, or learn about why I have two mommies. The best thing to give Jesus would be your service. Stan
 
Gee folks, he worked with his father, I thought the DeWalt tools would be appreciated. He also thought his mother was a virgin, I knew better than to go there.
 
Jesus would probably like some really good hand tools like one of those high end hand planes.;^)
 
I'm not a very religious guy but I do believe that Jesus was a real person who lived some 2000 years ago and that most of the bible has been proven to be correct within the last few years. It is a fairly accurate record of the early years around the time of Jesus.

Well the bible says Jesus came into town on a mule... Well Maybe Jesus can come into town on a Farmall A or a Allis B or a John Deere M. Or if you really want to wow them Jesus could come into town on a large W9 International and run over them non belivers.

What happened to seperation of church and state ?

And where in the world today are you going to find 3 wise men ?
 
Maybe a crib, formula, and diapers.
Judging by the responses here, I guess some people never heard of private or parochial schools.
 
Why bring gifts? He already has everything. If you believe he is the Son of God. I grew up with religion crammed down my throat, so I am a bit bitter about the whole thing. And for those of you who are going to preach to me and quote scripture don't waste your time. I'll take my judgement from God, not you.
 
stan, my daughter goes to a parochial high school, not a public high school, which is why she is in the religion class. and i have to agree, its one of those questions that are difficult to answer.
 
It did slip my mind that there are those with enough money to send their kids to private schools.
 
in my opinion the gifts helped sustain the family as Jesus grew to manhood so i would try to think of a similar gift.remember Jesus lived as a man and experienced the same things in life we all face. also yes i believe he worked with Joseph as a carpenter to learn a trade just as many enter family business do today.at my public high school Bible studies was taught as a english class didnt take it then now wish i had

Just normally avoid religious posts, but this little bit of info escapes me. Where, when, and by who? There's some show on the History Channel that debunks most religious theories and gives logical possible explanations for others. Who parted the sea, Moses? The parting of the sea acted exactly like what a tsunami would do. All the water rushes out, Moses crosses, then all the water rushes back in.
 
I forgot to add IF they don't get gov. aid of any kind and reilgous do not, at least in this state.
 
Me too and in a way I am now glad.
It gave me the wisdom to realize that todays "church" is mans device not Gods.
They make money for men and give men power.
A brush arbor, a stump in the woods, a river bank,a tractor seat while plowing a field, now those are Gods church.
 
Now everybody knows it was a column of fire(UFO)that raised the wind and parted the waters.If the Discovery channel was right,Moses led the folks out there,the wind blew,for no reason,they walked over,the wind decided to quit blowing all on its own,drowning pharoahs men.Yeah Right!Oh and if it didnt happen like that it was a lie and never did happen at all?I have a real problem with those people that think everything is something they can"debunk".
