Whats factory on a farmall h

Ok I have heard different things on this. I have 2 questions. From the factory on a 1944 farmall h did they come with the tooth style throtle or was it the friction type? And what style of seat frame. I have seen a heard of 3 types. The long goose neck type pole that supports the seat and the 2 spring and shock type. One the spring is right under the seat and the other has the longer shock under the seat. I am slowly restoring a 1944 H and a 1949 M. This year I am fixing all the mechanical and leaks then run them for the summer baling hay then make sure nothing else is wrong. Then next winter hopefully put paint on them.

the tooth style was from the factory, the friction style throttle, i believe was made by m+w. the pipe style seat was the standard seat from the factory, munroe made an aftermarket seat for a lot of tractors, here is a photo of the munroe catalog, i think the short shock seat in the front was an i-h.

The saw tooth throttle was factory. Your manual should show which seat was used from factory as over the yrs newer models were made and lots got changed.

I'm not trying to be a smartazz here, but it might help if you had a factory parts book. While they give production changes by serial number rather than by year, you cn check the serial number charts at sites like this one to determine what year a certain change was made.

And if it's not in the factory parts book, odds are it's not factory.

My advice, based upon the past 45 years in the parts business...and worth every cent it cost you.

Saw tooth, I have a IH bulliten when they came out with the square notch one and it was way after 44. Seat would be round curved pipe with spring between feet and bolt end sticking out top to adjust spring pressure. IH did'nt make the one with spring and shock under seat until about 49.Other poster showed pics of monroe seat. Most Parts manuals you get now are last printing as IH updated parts used on H, M and others over the years. If the new part fit older tractors without other changes they don't show when all changes were made in parts book.

Thanks every one for the info. I have the pipe seat on the 44 H but I think I am going to put on the short shock seat right now for when I am out cutting grass in the ditches. Its like the one I have on the 49 M and man is it alot more comfortable. And I will have to keep my eyes open for a saw tooth to put back on the H. Unrelated note I found a belly mount sickle mower made by Kosch I think I am going to try. Anyone have any opinions on those units? Thanks
