Buyers Questions?

I have been cleaning up the shop this winter and in the process selling some items on the Internet.I just thought I would share some of the questions that people have asked me about some of the things that I have been selling.
1. A guy wanted to know when I had last started a tractor with the hand crank that I was selling.
2. Another fellow wanted to know what the compression pressure was on each of the cylinders on a $500 starterless tractor that I was selling. He told me that I should jack it up,put it in gear and spin the back wheels to do the compression testing.
3. Another fellow wants to bring a starter out to hear the $500 starterless tractor run before he decides whether he wants it or not. I hopehe brings plugs, points, gasoline etc.
4. Another guy who bought 2 magnetoes for $15 each wants me to refund him $2 because it only cost me $13 dollars to ship the Flat Rate box and I advertised shipping and handling for $15.
He gave me a bad sellers feedback.
5. Last but not least is the guy who wanted to know my reserve price on a pair of tires and when I told him,he wanted me to stop the auction becasue he needed them and would pay the price. He surely has to have been to an auction in his life?

Oh Well---Maybe it is just me?

forget about the$500 guy, i dont respond to some if i dont want too....i charge only flat rate $, no handling, but thats my problem, after all the box is free

Question #1 seems very legit to me, I'd not want to deal with a seller that isn't willing to respond to that?

I can understand #4. People are bargin hunters & barterers, and want a good deal. As a buyer, people get took every day by folks adding on 'extra' charges to shaft a buyer. It works both ways. I agree it is petty, but I at least understand it.

The rest is pretty funny. :)

I don't bother much with ebay any more. Seems it's only a bunch of crooks out to take money, and ebay seems to help those crooked sellers. This is not a reflection of _you_, but just how a lot of buyers get treated of late. Perhaps they are taking it out on you.

About item 4. I have sold several things, not through ebay, but makes no difference. On several packages I probably used 2.00 worth of tape, then there is taking time to mail the package plus gas. 15.00 for a mag is not a bad pice. The guy probably lost a good night's sleep thinking how you took advantage of him. Just my opinion. Stan

Nobody that sees a fixed rate listed for shipping has ANY reason to gripe about it AFTER the fact.
If you listed the shipping at $15.00 and I wanted the item,I'd buy it.If I thought $15.00 was too high I'd hit the back button and keep looking. If you shipped it for less,I can say nothing,as I KNEW what the shipping was before hand.
You need to be sure to add that buyer to your blocked bidder list. You don't want to deal with worthless, trash like that again.
Also now you see how a buyer can screw a seller with feedback, even when they have no good reason.

Try selling off the machines in a machine shop... Buzzards come in, that do not want to even buy anything, but they expect me to let them start loading up small stuff, since we are closed.. The nerve of some folks amazes me.

I sold a rough 4 wheeler on e-bay with several photos and full decription of known mechanical problems, I even stated that I was selling because I had priced the needed parts and did not think it was worth fixing. The 4 wheeler brought $840.00 -- I couldn't believe it -- I e-mailed the seller and asked if he was sure of what he bid on and if he had read the description, I went this extra step because I realize that very few people have much mechanical savvy nowdays and I did not want a misunderstanding or hard feelings. He accused me of wanting to sell it out from under him, I said fine come get it. He did, and you probably guessed it, took one look and started whining, I will not give all of the details but he shortly left my place with the 4 wheeler and I ran to the bank to cash his check. First and last e-bay sale.
