Well, i think i found my problem with the B. The top terminal was VERY corroded, cleaned that out, shortened the wires, put it back together and got a really nice blue spark off of all 4 cylenders.

Ive opened up the thermostat, cleaned off the mating surfaces, and stuck it back together with silicon gasket stuff, and ive made some rubber washers for the top of it.

But theres another problem. In my infinent wisdom, ive somehow overlooked a carb linkage. I need the thing that goes from the govener linkage to the carb itself on an Allis B. Anyone got one??

I thought i had one, but both the govenor linkage and both ends of it were male. One of them apperentially has to be female.

Yup. LOL ya think old ford mechanic woulda been far enough away to "dodge all the flying peices"??? :)

Hey Lanse, its all ways nice to have some kind of kill switch you can reach...just in case. From the mag to ground, even a choke wire in case of some thing wrong..Don't Ask me about the home made tote-goat I made once with 9 horse engine that stuck wide open....Now you know why us old guys know so much..been there did that.

Hopefully you didn't put a a large amount of silicone on the thermostat. I was told that sometimes it can block flow or cause other problems. A thin bead should be fine. Dave
