caught part of the speed channel on cable tv last nite. had a real interesting section on john deere and showed the combine assembly plant. also featured a custom combining crew out west and all the machinery. wow, what an operation!!!

I have seen that before. It is really cool how they put those things together and all the options you can get on them.

I've seen it three times. Very interesting. I've never been through a combine factory but I'd sure like to do it someday.

Watching the combine crew gives me the "itch" to get out there again this coming summer. I chuckled about how they made the broken sickle section sound like the disaster of the day. Jim

i got a kick out of that too, jees took him all of 10 minutes to replace a bolt in section at the end of the bar. then they had the deere service trucks chasing em. guess you need to have drama!!!!

I have toured the plant. What mostly interested me was the paint process where they dip the combine less the cutter head in 53,000 gallons of water that had a layer of paint floating on it. The paint had an electric charge that penetrated into every area on the machine.
