Dumb F-20 question

I have a set of frame rail generator brackets and crank pulley (after market). Has anyone tried to use a starter/generator on one? It seems that it would be too much for that to turn the motor over. Just thought I would ask so I don't waiste my time.

I'm also afraid that the F20 engine would require a lot more torque than a starter/generator could develop, or that a single "Vee-Belt drive would transmit.
I have seen an F20 and another F30 that had an aitomatic transmission starter plate bolted to the front crank pulley then the starter mounted off the frame railes - - it looked pretty ingenious; but, would seem to need some CAREFUL alignment.
Best Wishes!

I just put a clutch in a Yellow Cub, not a cub cadet, it has a 4 cyl gas engine and the starter/generter sure turns it over. It may work on the f20

I've seen an F12 with a ring gear on the belt pulley then a starter was used to start the engine thru the belt pulley since the pulley was engaged all the time.

I've started my Farmall "H" just by turning the belt pulley also, one must be careful not to wear loose fitting clothes when performing this rediculous task.

It's not something I make a habit of doing, it's much easier to use the hand crank when the battery is too low to crank it over.

You can run with the PTO, in that way starter will not run full time. Of course if you need your to run implements, then it"s a moot point

Don"t get me wrong, I am not looking for a lazy way to start my f-20 or dare I say a hillbilly way to rigg a starter on my tractor. I have these rare brackets so you can mount a generator on the frame rail to run a lighting package or whatever. Since a starter/generator, like on a cub or case, have the same mounting configuration, I was just wondering if it would have enough power to turn a lot bigger motor over like the F-20. The only way I could see that it may work is to get the motor cranking and then advance the spark. What do you think?

The brackets are for a generator only. I've seen starters that ran off the front pulley but they were higher torque motors and used a chain drive.

cub cadet starter generators turn over a stock one hole kohler just fine, but if you increase the compression ratio any they start a grunting.
i doubt they have enough ooomph to turn over four big cylinders

If for a F-20 Farmall, I think I have a bell housing and starter fly wheel. It should work on a F-12. Tonight is freezing here so I'll check tomorrow if you are interested.
