Happy new year everyone! I have an old 445 Moline that I use to plow snow. I have a tire on the rear that I can see the tube through a crack in the sidewall. I know this is not good and with the snow we are getting here on the slopes of Mt Hood Oregon I really need to take care of it. The problem that I am having is lack of money for a new tire. I am unemployed for the first time in 35 years, had some health issues so money is tight. I know if I were in the midwest I could find a decent used tire at one of the used ag tire places. I hae been looking here in Oregon for something usable, with no luck. Does anyone out there have a suggestion?
 
If it just has a crack in it with the tube showing in one place,and you only use it to plow snow,why not just put a boot in it?
 
I have more then one tire like that. I brake them down and then glue a boot in place and then some of them I fill the crack with silicone sealer and have some that where done more then 5 years ago and they are still holding up just fine

If it"s got one crack it may well have more places weakened; you might want to consider a reliner instead of a boot, altho some boots can be pretty good sized.
I"ll guess you"re not familiar with either boots or reliners; you can punch them up on Google for info.
I doubt a vulcanizer would want to work on a carcass old and dry enough to have such a crack, but you could ask; their business may well be picking up as people try to repair instead of buy.
 
Ted, what size are you looking for? Sounds as if you might be fairly close to me and I have some used tires of different sizes.E-mail is open
 
I would consider lining it with another tube from a nother tire. Cut the stem out and slit the ttube all the way around the inside diameter to open it up. A tube from a larger tire may work best.
