Coal sludge spill TN

Anybody around this? You can trust the EPA and the local gov that there's no contaminates. (Roll eyes) One of Bush's eleventh hour law changes is that the coal industry can dump even closer to streams and water ways.

What are you left wing extremist libs to do? Soon Bush won't be in charge and who WILL you blame everything on then? Oh wait.......! I forgot. The world as we know it will be absolutely perfect come Jan 20th.

My point is, it ain't Bush's fault. If you bothered to read a little bit about the subject you're spouting off about, you'll see where this sludge pile WASN'T just put there in the "eleventh hour". But since you're the typical DemMORONacrat, things like truth and reality don't enter into the opinions you form. So long as you can create mistrust with lies and inuendo, you're happy. We EXPECT that sort of childish behavior from you though, so this is of no real suprise.

Of course polluted water is not good! It's just that it's difficult to see how Bush was responsible for a spill in Tn when that pile had been building up for dozens of years...maybe you should blame Ike or Truman for that "human" management/engineering error?

Amazing how one can blame Bush for everything! (I am not defending his presidency)

And let's not loose sight of the FACT that this WASN'T a "coal industry" accident. It was TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) A POWER company. But why muddy up the waters (pardon the pun) with things foriegn to you such as the TRUTH.

When Barry O'Bama is in office TWO slugs, you and Michael Moore will be out of a job. No GW to blame everything on. What WILL you do with yourself?

You didn't even read or understand what I wrote with your jumpin on the protect Bush band wagon.
So if you don't understand what the eleventh hour changes are, it's laws or regulations that a President wouldn't normally mess with during his term because they would be so unpopular. So in the eleventh hour(EH) or final days he changes laws or pardons people.
One of his EH changes is for the coal industry to be able to dump closer to waterways. Obviously there's a problem with this if there's a big pollution spill in his EH.
I didn't say Bush was responsible, but if you check into it he probably cut the testees off the agency that was suppose to watch over this.
His EH change just made it easier for this to happen in the future. So even when he's gone he'll still be screwin us.

Aw c`mon guys this can all be settled with a bottle of Jack Daniels by a wood stove with some old tactors around!PS. maybe with a little snoose too!

tlak,

Your reference to the coal industry dumping near streams might be a different matter from the coal ash that was recently released in Eastern Tennessee. I haven't heard anything about relaxed requirements for the the coal industry's dumping requirements, however, I have read about the coal ash that was released from a retention pond outside of a TVA owned coal fired electric generating plant.

TVA has 11 coal fired electric generating plants. They have been in place for many, many years. Each of them has a retention area where the coal ash by-product of the generation process is dumped. The ash is dried out there and eventually is removed for use in road building. The retention ponds are earthen banked. In this case, one area of one of the earthen dams broke, thus releasing the sludge that was awaiting drying and processing.

Another similar event occured in 2000 in Kentucky at one of their plants up there.

I agree with you that the government's assessments can seldom be trusted, and although they are saying that the sludge should not be ingested, they say that the contaminates in the sludge are routinely filtered out in water treatment plants that serve the area and are therefore of no immediate threat to the populace. Who knows.

In any event, this particular problem probably pre-dates President Bush.

You need to realize that anyone of us with average or better intelligence will read and understand any post we plan on replying to. That may be a novel concept to those like you.

Also, it would be very benificial to yourself if you would quit getting all your daily news from the DNC website. You're beginning to sound like a broken record.

Now you went and done it..... Who says you can use facts, truth, reality, and accurate information in reply to a TLAK (Totally Lacking Any Knowledge) attack on George Bush? The nerve you have!

Live within 7mi of one of tva,s other cosl fired plsnt. (TVA CUMBERLAND CITY) Have several sediment ponds may be something in te water but ducks and geese comonly sit on the ponds here. About ever 15 months they drain one remove wha they call fly ash sell it to concrete plsnts and go again.. People have to realize that area had 7 in of rain fall in less than 4 hrs. Just an accident.I feel for the people who lived where there house was damaged but to some degree they new when they locsted there withe that lake view the plant was there. I think TVA will bend over backward to be fair with those people. The bad thing is all these tree huggers (Green peace) and Seria club ect will never let it end. Makes for big donations as long as they can keep something like this stired up.. (

"average or better intelligence"
If you voted for Bush twice, this would be suspect.

talk about childish thoughts you take the award. The newer plants handle the fly ash dry and sell it for cement additive. Bottom ash is put in a silo and water is seperated from it prior. That is hauled to a pile and sold for surfacing lanes gravel roads etc. Fly ash has been used to firm up track beds etc also. The power plant I worked at for 30 years can,t keep up with demands. sort of like the packing industry sell everything but the squeal.I think both are safe but it is the mess of the spill that is hard to deal with

Who said I voted for ANYONE? You ASSUME too much and know far too little.

But then again, we expect that from your little mind. It"s all you have to offer.

Hy, you're the one all riled up over Bush and the Repugs, I was just putting in a ping on his Eleventh Hour criminal acts, with more to come.
If you feel guilty....

You aren't even smart enough to read what you posted are you. And then when it comes time to understand what someone else posted, you're out in LEFT field with the rest of your LEFTIST buddies. My sympathies to all who must endure your daily presence.

Riled up? WHO me? Naw, yer jes stupid enough to THINK that we all think like you. I ain't riled up about anything. I share no guilt or responsibility with anyone in Washington. Some day, maybe, if you're lucky, it'll dawn on you just how easy it is to rattle your cage. Meanwhile, stay wide to the left. Makes more room for us REAL Americans.

What is the source for your claim that "One of Bush's eleventh hour law changes is that the coal industry can dump even closer to streams and water ways"?

What law or regulation was changed?

Any one who doesn't agree with all of King George's crimes and corruption is a "left wing extremist lib" huh? What an idiot! You and Bushy lost. Get over it.

Wet or dry, fly ash has a lot of nasty chemicals in it. The more of this crap the scrubbers remove, the more is in the ash. Using in cinder blocks may seal it, but spreading it on the ground is not a good idea,as can leach into our water supply.

Simple, highlight it, then hit cut and paste, same thing, where did I say that?

Simple.... That pretty well describes you.

GO RE-READ YOUR ORIGINAL POST. IT DOESN'T TAKE A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU WERE TRYING TO IMPLY. EVERYONE ELSE GATHERED THAT SAME THING. NEXT, GROW UP A LITTLE. ACTING LIKE A FOUR YEAR OLD IS UNBECOMING TO YOU.

It's called "the law of TLAK makes it up as he goes along, in keeping with the abundant way of dodging the truth at any cost".

I noticed the Lady who is the spokes person for the plant on TV last night said nothing about mercury in the ash. I don't know where they get the coal from but the coal mines around here have a trace of mercury in the coal and sulphur too. I guess they don't want to cause a "mercury panic".

They presently are banned or have to get special permission to dump within such a distance from streams or waterways. I had saved the site because I figured somebody would ask, but can't find it. It was in a list of Bush's eleventh hour changes and if you searched "Bush coal" you would find some mention of it. Trying to find it again I ran into another article that said the coal industry didn't pay any attention to the regs because if they weren't enforced what did it matter. So you can figure the non-enforcement side of it.

Look, there are already too many regulations on businesses and utility companies in America. If these whiny neighbor folks would just pull themselves back up by their bootstraps and go about their lives like nothing happened, the whole country would be a lot better off.

But instead, they'll all claim to be victims and hire lawyers and sue, rather than just rebuilding their homes and moving on with their lives like good Americans. I mean, it was just a home they lost; it's not like they lost a family member or something...they should realy count their blessings, get their butts to work rebuilding, and STFU about it.

Did I say it is Bush,s faulyt better go read again. What I will say is it is the power companys fault to a degree. Bush,s responsiblty is in lower regulations. This why I am not for nucular power. Sounds good but I know as well as you thjat bottom line is more important than safety. I worked for a good utilty that tried to do right but we had some supervisors that would cut corners too. I feel we have more important problems than ash. chemicals sulphur asbestoes etc. Thank god we had negoated a good safety program

Those "green" light bulbs promoted by the biggest dim bulb in the socket, Algore, also have more than a trace of mercury in them, and they are inside your home!
