Allis-Chalmers CA Rt. rear axle

Does anybody know......the Allis CA has that notorious Lambert clutch on the rt rear axle, is there any thing that can be done to change that to a straight axle? Like maybe insert the axle from a model "C". Would like to know if any of you "ole" farmers know of something.

I have read on Allis Chalmers boards where the C pinion shaft was used. I have both parts tractors here but have not compaired the two pinion shaftes myself. The left side pinion shaft from a CA parts tractor would work. My one CA parts tractor has solid pinion shafts both sides.

Hi DickL.....would you be able to check that for me. If that is the case I would love to purchase a used "C" rt pinion. Thanks

you can replace it with an axle from a c, or a left hand axle from a CA. Or you can bolt the clutch housing halves together....or you can repair the clutch, that thing is handy!

None of my business, but it seems as if you have decided to rid yourself of that @^*! hand clutch once and for all. Well, it"s not that much of repair...did it myself several years ago and I think if you had a reliable working hand clutch, you"d come to appreciate it. I"d repair it if it were me.
