Think I'll have some fun

I didn't get money in for the needy this Christmas so I got to thinking how and what way to help out some people I dont know..I think I will break a $100. dollar bill and stand outside Walmart store and hand out $20. dollar bills to people that look like they need a boost. $20. isnt much to some people but at least it will by pass the middle man. I will to do it secertly trying to not make a big deal out of it. Do you think I would be arrested for being crazy?

Good idea Erik, I've probably given close to $75.00 to the bell ringers this year. I know that money goes through a "middle man" but they've proven that they do good things with their donation proceeds. Being anonymous is a good thing too. God sees in secret and will reward you openly. Have a great Christmas.

"True giving doesn't matter if it's tax deductible." Great idea. I've thought of doing something similar with firewood--find a family or two that really need the help. Even if no one knows, you'll feel better.

break it up smaller and give $5 to some children that are behaving themselves. The children will appreciate $5 more than most adults will $20 and boy what a smile it will bring. If the parents seem they need it and appreciate the gesture to their child give the $20 to them and all will feel equal in the care giving department.

Just saw on the news this AM that some guy in Connecticut bought $1,300 worth of Walmart gift cards, and was handing them out at the entrance to Walmart. They made him stop- said it was "disrupting the traffic flow into the store". So he went over to Target, told them what had happened, and Target traded him Target gift cards for the Walmart ones, straight up, and told him to hand them out to his heart's content. Just when I start feeling more charitable toward Walmart, they pull another stunt like that.

Ya --- it makes you feel better, only because you cheated some one in the past and you feel you want to make up for that -- I see it all the time -- most will deny that fact, but it's just a guilty conscience......

I have been a bell ringer in past years and I can assure you there is no money in those red pots that goes to any middle man. There is no greater joy as to ring the bell for SA. MIssed it this year due to my physical problems. Also I would like to remind all here that Ronald Mcdonald houses are as good a charity as you can find. After spending 8 weeks as a guest in Chattanooga (they have 5 rooms set aside for cancer patients and are supported by the tumor clinic at Erlanger Hospital)I wll attest to the Love and attention we received by all. They are non-judgemental and everyone is treated with respect and the families lack for nothing. Henry

To "Must be fun"...Have a Merry Christmas..now that didnt cost anything. Farming and hard work for 54 years did pay off, thank you!!

The difference between you and me, I don't give things away to make me feel better --
I give things away because giving is of love...

to Must be fun..you brought up the idea of making yourself feel good..not mine or the other guy. What I really think is that you dont have anything to give away except love. I'm really sorry that I brought up the subject if it was going to offend someone.. I dont think I will hand it out, just drop a few $10. dollar bills as I walk through the store and if anyone catches me, Ill just say pass it on. Merry Christmas Some people dont want hand outs because of pride, even if they were not at fault because they have been laid off from the economy, I am sure if they need it it will be excepted. Try to have a good day "MUST BE FUN"

Good idea, only problem is a guy was doing this a couple years ago. He was handing out 10"s, after about an hour he disappeared, they found his body in behind a dumpster behind the mall, he had been stabbed and robbed of the rest of his money.

It's not smart to drop a few $10. dollar bills, there are better ways to giving -- and smarter for sure..
most generally those who have nothing to their name, are getting what they need from the government, of which I am paying for through taxes, and more over, the ones who have nothing to their name most generally live like that because of bad choices.

The Salvation Army always have there hand out for donations --- I'm sure they would love to see your money in their hands...

Glad to hear Salvation Army is doing well. When my dad came to Detroit from South Carolina around 1918, they were I suppose the only place for down and outers to go. Bed and board and Bible. God bless 'em.

We have a santa's anonymous here that gives out toys to kids who are less fortunate. One of the big furniture stores donates the use of a large warehouse to sort everything out. They will take donations as well and are always looking for volunteers to help deliver the toys. Everything is done by volunteers. The food bank is always looking for help as well. Last year we bought some toys to drop off. If someone can go in into Walmart, they must have a little money? A $3 toy for a small child that wouldn't have received one otherwise would be a lot more rewarding and appreciated by his parent(s). Dave

I dont have much of any extra money right now,but I do have 3 freezers full of food,so I helped a needy family with enough meat to go through several weeks. There are more and better ways of helping folks than just cash, and it doesnt matter if its a out of work mill worker or an unemployed banker. They are all human beings,Right?
