cat 3116 oil in fuel?

Any Cat experts here? Had to take the fuel tank off one of my straight trucks to get it repaired, and the repairman said the fuel looked dark, like it had engine oil in it. Is that a possibility? Truck runs a route every day, and runs fine, but has some miles on it. Thanks

not farmiliar with the engine/inj.pump setup but the only link between the engine and the fuel tank is the fuel return line. the pump is probably engine oil lubricated. dont overlook somethin simple like contaminated fuel or fuel additives though

where are you buying your fuel, there are a few shops around that will dump oil from oil changes etc. into there fuel storage tanks rather than pay to have it disposed of properly and sell it right back to you through the fuel pumps
