Have a string of non replaceable LED outside lights the 3 wire type . The last half of the string quit, (does not light up)Yet you plug another set into the outlet end and you have power . How does this type of wiring work. Had other sets do the same thing and have just thrown them away. FRUSTRATED

What type of plug is on the end of the light strand??? two prong or three prong? If two prong, I would ASSUME that the lights are set up something like this...One wire is a nuetral for ALL the lights. The other two wires are the "hot" wires. One is for the first half of the lights, and one for the last half of the lights. If exactly HALF of your lights are not working, you have a break in the wiring somewhere. If you have a three prong plug, let me know, I will re think this...do you have a non contact voltage tester???

Break in wiring could be in socket(crimped or soldered connection). Also small and delicate wire can be broken inside insulation and look okay on the outside. Give a little tug on wire and if it stretches or feels extra limp, maybe this is the bad spot.

A lot of newer Xmas lights have small fuses in the plug look for a place that can be removed and check it out.
