Was cold here in NE Iowa today. Cattle and feed were frosty. Any one care to help load the recyclable bio waste? Have an extra shovel for those who want a challenge. Sure miss the days of a nice warm office and paycheck. But sure love to watch the critters grow. STEAK anyone?

How many head you got?I would rather do that then sit at a desk.Missing the pay check can't be to much fun.

We keep 4-500 head on hand most of the time. As long as the feed pile holds out. We try to sell 12 head each week to help with the lost paycheck
 
Nice looking lot and lots of feed ready. Just wondered ???? if you sell 12 head a week could I put in for 1 body??? don,t need the head.
 
I only sell the heads. Bodies are free complete with tales and hooves. Separation fees may be imposed.
 
Looks good, Ever tried self feeding in the silo? Sure saves the cold starts on the tractors. We built a head gate the cattle stood their front feet on and reached through(can't push it over) once a week we cleaned the silo and then pushed the bunk up. Threw the grain in front once a day. The calves seemed to figure out how much to eat.
 
Lanse, there is no place on earth like Iowa. Whether it is NE, NW or South center. Lived in NW Ia. all my life (63 years) and don't see relocation in my future. I guess I'm an Iowegian through and through.
 
Nice pics Dan! Where abouts in NE Iowa are you located? We farm near Independence. I went to college at NICC in Calmar.

I was born in Indee Jake now live 10 miles north of Oelwein. I used to work a lot in the buchanan county area.
