Possums are one of the very few animals I really dislike. Ugly, ugly, ugly!

Possums have such a slow reacting nervous system, the body can be dead and the brain doesn't know it.
Someone posted a thread on another forum about a friend of his who is an animal control officer in a large city. He recieved a call to the inner city.
When he arrived, the animal control officer found a possum staggering around on the lawn with several bullet holes in it. A fellow was standing on the porch with a smoking .38 revolver and said, "Man, dat's the biggest dahm rat I ever seed!!".

My wife is from Arkansas she always wants tell about her step father who would go out every spring and get one Opossum then cook it all day and then eat what was left in the pot.
My cousin had a pet one when we were young, they do make nice pets if you get them very young.

Wonder where Mom is, that looks like a young Oppossum.
Funny thing is they would come up on my porch and eat the cat food.

My brother found one when he was in high school that was pretty friendly. He kept it as a pet, fed it cheezy poofs and would take it to town on the weekends and walk it on a leash. He picked up a few girls with it. I told him to never bring any of the girls to my house. I did not care if there was a slick tail in a pen in the back yard, just did not want any girls picked up with it around.

Got one like that only bigger out in my compost bin. real stiff. Died from lead poisoning a few nights ago.
