white 2-105 how many plow bottoms

Dave I looked to see drawbar H.P. of this tractor which is 85 HP. So I figure an inch per H.P. So it would handle 5/16 or maybe 6/16 in sandy soil. A lot depends on the weight you have on the tractor and the type of plow used and if the ground has been farmed on a regular basis.

4-16 would be a load in my clay soil. Sand should pull easier.

Actually this fall in very tough conditions, bit of frost set in, my 130hp tractor was struggling with a 4-20 plow.

I know we all like to brag about how strong our tractor is, being guys - but, you need to get work done in good and bad conditions. I'd rather go easy on a good old tractor than pull the guts out of it to prove myself....

When i had duals on i used both a 6-16 and a 5-18, but i have sandy soil. The strange thing was i could use the 1850 in 5th low on the 5-18, but if i put the 2-105 on it i had to use 4th direct. The 1850 is geared slower and had no duals.

Nah- Should be able to pull 4-16's. We pull a 546 4-16 with our 1855 in Kaukauna. Put out 105 hp on the dyno a few years back.

Down in the Dells area where there's more sand (where I bought the plow) that same plow was pulled with a 1755 or smaller.

Chris,
I have a 2-135 and pull 4-18s. I always wished I had another bottom. I don't plow much anymore, we no-til. I'd try a 4-18s or if you want to have plenty of extra power try 4-16s. Depends on your acres, soil type and if it gets packed alot. The more I think about it maybe you should go 4-16s first.

I easily pull 5 16"s and 4 20"s in heavy Webster with an 1800 diesel which is about 20 horse less than a 2-105.

Yes,I'd go 4x18s. That's what I pull with my 2-135 too. My 1850 handles it well too,but the White handles it better. The 1850 would be the same physical size as the 2-105,same engine, just not turbod.

A good rule of thumb is 20 on 16 inch bottoms to 25 hp on 18 inch bottoms per bottom. If your soil is light and sandy, then 15 hp for 16 inch is fairly accurate. The only thing to remember is that most farms are not completely sandy soils.

For Roll Over plows 3-18 bottoms would be perfect. 4-16 would probably work ok and struggle in tough ground. 4-18 would work if the plowing was easy and not at all when it got tough.
