I just bought a ford 800 with a loader and a backhoe.well not much listed for these why?? i see loads of 8n"s 9n"s.why really nothing on the 800?i went to tractor data and they do not even list it with all the other hundreds of tractors ford make. What is the deal with the 800 is she a ghost or what? cant figure it out....

800 was the series identifier for the utility version with the 172cu in engine. There were many variations and no one has just a plain "800". The second number would indicate pto and hyd lift. Example: "2" indicates none; "4" indicates 4 speeds and non-live pto; "6" indicates 5 speeds fwd and live pto. The third digit was zero until 1958 and then it became "1" So if you have an 860 it would mean you have 5 forward speeds and a live pto mfg from 1955 through 1957. If you have an 841 it means it has 4 forward speeds and non-live pto mfg from 1958 up. And, if you have an 871, may God help you. (;>)) Get onto Smith's Ford Tractor page website. They explain it all.

We had a Ford 800(850). It had 3ph,non live pto,5speed tranny,172 gas engine. Was a good tractor,about 40 hp.

Very probable that you have an 840 as with the backhoe you would have no need for the extra forward gear and for the hydrolics they are probably powered with a front mount pump to get enough volume as the factory pump is low volume and you would have no use for a live PTO, now if it was a bit newer it would be an 841 with just a few more HP, but that setup could also be an 820 with no three point hitch with a frame mounted backhoe

Well turns out shes an 850.number is 141163 guess late 50's.has a sherman backhoe ran off the pto.ford loader.runs very well.thanks for the help guys..
