I was wondering if anyone could help me to remove a throw out bearing. The manual I have does not really show what to do. Thanks

Remove transmission (this means split the tractor) then on the trans side you will see the bearing on the clutch shaft fork. It may have some small clips holding it on. Get some help this is no job for the amateur also get a Service manual not the operators manual.

Yes what are you working on? A lot of small forklifts you pull the main shaft out of the transmisison then the clutch shaft.

While you're replacing the throw out bearing be sure to pull the clutch out and inspect it then replace the pilot bearing in the middle of the flywheel if it has a bearing. Also inspect the flywheel for cracks or discoloring to a blue color. If blue that means the clutch has gotten hot at one time.

Howdy Old,
Could you send me an email please? Quite awhile back you having some problems after an ice storm with your roof, getting it repaired, and some other issues.

Thanks,

Split it, yank the old one out with a puller, install new one along with a new input shaft, flywheel pressure plate, throwout bearing, and fork. Make sure the release fork shaft and bushings are in top notch condition or replace them also.

When i think back on the things ya had to do, on the old Ford cars (1928 to 1948) to change the throw-out bearing, it makes me very glad that they changed the procedure! I changed many by hanging the back of the car on a stout tree limb, and used a chain hoist to get it up there! Its a wonder that more home mechanics lived as long as they did!

we were too poor to have a bumper jack.

had to line up some guys and pick up the back end and hold it.
