I have a "57 Massey Ferguson FE 35 4 cyl. diesel that just got stuck in 2nd gear today and can"t get it to free up.This has happened several times before but was always able to get it working again. It always happens when I"m in 2nd high range. Also living here in Canada where it"s quite cold my steering seizes up after the temp.goes below -10C.I can free it up with a propane torch.Wondering if it"s moisture or what? Thanks!Tom

When our MFs used (haven't had one in about 30 years) to get stuck in gear, we'd lift the shift boot; drive out the pin and CAREFULLY pick up/move the lever so that the lever matched up with whatever gear the transmission was in.............

On the one I used to have, remove the oil filler cap on transmission, use large screwdriver or pry bag, slid the sliding gear back to neutral. This ususlly frees it up.

Thanks for the lnfo.Followed your advice and couldn't believe how easy it was to fix, just slid a big screwdriver in there and pushed her back into the proper position.Would you know how to drain the fluid out of the steering box to solve the other problem I have? Thanks again! TOM
