MF 35 steering

Steering on my MF 35 was getting jerky, then all but wouldn't work! I didn't realize there was a separate pump with resevoir for the steering, as had been told early on that steering ran off main hydraulics. I pulled the steering control valve assembly off, as need to replace the seal and maybe a bushing, as shaft has a lot of side play movement! Can the section of the valve where the shaft to the steering wheel comes out, be removed for work without disturbing the rest of the valve body?? As of yet I have no manuals for working on this tractor.

On my MF-135, I was able to remove the top of the valve that included the steering column, after I removed the steering wheel and the dash. The seal is up near the top. Be careful to not knock out the top's flange where the seal seats when knocking out the seal. It cost me extra to get that fixed.
