HI COULD ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO TOW START MY 640 FORD EVERY TIME I TRY BOTH TIRES TURN IN DIFFRENT DIRECTIONS AND IT DOESNT WORK THANK YOU MITCH

You do have a helper for pull-starting, right? Assuming you do... pull vehicle should take up the slack in the chain or rope, then pull at a steady rate. 5 m.p.h. is fast enough. Person on the tractor should have the key on, in gear (since you say it's a 640, that tells me it's a 4-speed; put it in 4th), throttle about 1/3 open, and your foot down on the clutch. After you're moving at a steady speed, let the clutch out. If you have spark, fuel and decent compression, it should pop off quickly.

I would add: don't try this at all unless you know for sure that the clutch is not stuck and if the brakes don't work right. And be really careful and ready to shut off the ignition or throttle down.

First, Why are you towing it. Dead battery or seized engine. With both tires going in opposite directions means the engine is not turning and the diff spiders are rotating the tires. If you are in first that would be normal if you are in fourth then you have a seized engine.

Ive run a 640 for 22 years and never had to drag it around to start it.The 640 starts easy in zero weather. It has a good ignition system that will put out a 1/2 inch spark.

yes i got it started i had to pull carb and clean sediment bowlrun goodnow is your tractor 6 or 12 volt
