I recently purchased my first tractor a ford 9n. It started and ran good then I checked the air filter bowl for oil it had none so I put in 10w-30. I tried starting it and it flooded, backfired, and now will not fire. Any suggestions?

Pull that oil cup back off and see if it will fire up. If it does that means the air filter is plugged and you need to pull it off and clean it out. The way I do that is sock it in gas in a 5 gal. bucket over night. Blow it out with air and let dry for a few hours and try it again

I agree with old, if the only thing you did was add oil to the air cleaner the trouble is likely there. Mud daubers have been known to build nests inside of the old oil bath type air cleaners. Sometimes takes a good washing out with a hose to clear them out. Good luck,
