Snow Removal with a Tractor, What to charge

Its cold, but not snowing yet here in Missouri, and people are calling me wanting to know if I can clean their drive way if it snows. What should I charge for a driveway that is about 50-100 feet long? What do you charge in your area? I live in a small town of about 10,000 people.

Just trying to get a idea of what to charge.
Thanks in advance

$25.00 A push!!! A push is polling in drop plow 1 time. but this is real times here if thay are older or sameone that con,t do it. use you heart. i do from #1.00 up to $1000.00

I'd do it on a "time" basis. A four inch snow won't take that long, whereas a big drift is more complicated.

On a larger snowfall, don't forget once you pull the snow out of the driveway, you have to figure out what to do with it. You can't just pull it out onto the street and leave it. Everyone from the neighbors to the city will be on your case. You'll have to blade the snow over to the curb and leave the street as you found it. That can take more time than pulling the snow out of the driveway. I had some dork call the law on me once before I was even done working, because I'd made a temporary mess in the street which I cleaned up before I was done.

It's not as simple as it sounds. There's also the liability issue in case you cause any damage.

The best deal I ever had was a next door neighbor who always had a large garden in the summer. I'd clean the snow out of her driveway in the winter and she'd inundate us with stuff out of her garden in the summer.

I plowed snow for years as additional winter income. I charged $60.00/hour. It is easy to figure at $1.00/minute. Just watch your time and charge accordingly.

a nieghbor when i was a kid had a jd 4320 with a snowblower on the back he charged $1.00 an inch no matter how long the driveway was now i have a dc case with a 9 ft grader blade on the front a nieghber asked me to plow him out if we get snow i told him just pay for the fuel ill be happy to do it for him of course i didnt tell him that case is healthy and burns 3 gallons an hour but with a 9 ft pass will clean most driveways out

Shoot its not cold here yet. Yes I also live in Missouri and last time I looked out side it was snowing here, the lake of the Ozarks area. To warm out still for the snow to stick to any thing but the grass

My family has been using an IH 484 with a loader for snow removal from multiple homes for years. What I hate about it is it takes me hours to do what a pickup with a snowplow could do in just a few minutes. Get a big snow storm and my left leg will be sore for the next few days. The trouble this year is I don't have the time to mess around all day with that tractor, so if a big storm comes it will be up to dad.

Last winter we had a big snow year, 6' on the flat and 213" total snow fall for the winter. The going rate for heavy equipment was $90 an hour. We put our Versatile 150 with a 8' blower and our Oliver 1850 MFWD to work at that rate and did OK. Maintenance and repairs went up quite a bit. Remember snow plowing is harder on equipment than you might think. Figure in repairs or you'll be working for nothing. PK

I charge a dollar a minute from the time I leave my shed until The time I pull back into shed. As I have 15 clients the road time is divided by 15. Usualy make about $250 per snow fall.

Be neighborly and do it for a minimum of $15-20 per house if only 100 foot driveway. Do you have insurance? If you do then charge more. Also--if you get a large dump of snow like 10" or more then charge more, cause of time involved.

My brother charges $60/hr, but each driveway is a minimum charge of 20 minutes. If it takes him 15, then he makes a litle more per hour. If it takes him longer (end of the season w/nowhere to put it, or a huge snowfall) he charges more.
