Case tractors built 1958 & 1959 model years.

300 series with round nose sheet metal built 1956 & 1957 model years was superceeded by 300B series with square nose sheet metal. Basically the same tractor with some changes.

Some other early number series were discontinued I.E. 400 round nose. 400B series square nose was a much smaller & lower hp tractor with COM.

200B, 300B, 400B, 500B, 600B and some other higher number series square nose tractors were all built in 1958 & 1959 model years superceeded by the 30 & 80 series in 1960 and beyond.

If the model/serial nr plate is still on the steering cowl, starting serial nr for model year 1958 is 6095009, for 1959 6120001.

If tag missing, 1958 steering wheel is mounted on the shaft with a woodruff key and secured with an acorn nut. 1959 steering wheel hub is splined on the shaft secured with a regular hex nut covered with a medalion cap.

There are some other '58 & '59 differences but that is a very quick check.

I have the Acorn nut, the steering wheel is not in good shape and very hard to tell how it is being held on. I have the nut off but there is so much grease I did not see a key I will clean it off before I attempt to remove it where is the woodruff key located?

The woodruff key is on the shaft under the steering wheel hub. Keeps the hub from turning on the shaft.

You'll need a puller on the hub to get the steering wheel off, sometimes heat also. Don't forget to thread a regular hex nut on the end of the shaft so the puller doesn't mushroom the shaft end.

There are aftermarket steering wheels available. Steering wheel is Case p/n A7668, same as on 1958 200B 300B 400B 500b series tractors and the older 300, probably others. 1959 wheel is splined, will not fit your shaft.
