Need advice on restoring a Farmall Super A

Gentlemen: First of all, Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless! A Farmall Super A All-Fuel followed me home recently. Unfortunately it has been converted to straight gasoline, with an after-market (Vinson?) manifold, carburetor (cannot find any numbers or letters on it), with the gasoline with sediment bowl coming from the big tank, which should be the distillate tank. I want to restore this tractor but cannot decide if it should go back to original with the distillate. Any ideas or comments? Of course, it needs the usual things, like oil leaks fixed, new battery box, seat, and such. How difficult will it be to find the correct manifold, etc. Any ideas where to look for the necessary parts? The radiator looks like it may have been replaced as well; the only thing left of the shutters apperas to be the lever by the operator's seat.
It has a mounted 5 foot sickle mower with the rod divider 'board'. Any idea about the model nubmer? Where can one find a book for the mower? I at least need to find the shield for the drive unit in the back. My memory recalls that the cutter bar was black and some of the divider board was blue. There were also some white parts on it, including the wooden pitman arm. Sound right? Where can one find the correct paint scheme?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Another question: Should this more appropriately be posted on the IH board? Thanks in advance for any and all help. As this becomes my winter project, I will surely be needing answers to more of my stupid questions.

most of the distillate-kerosene tractors have been converted to gasoline, distillate is no longer available, and the current kerosene is formulated a little differnt too. there are guys that home brew fuel for those fueled tractors. its gonna be your call to decide if you want to go back completely original, but the distillate manifolds are tough to find in good condition. if you can, post some pictures of your tractor on the i-h board, the guys there can help you out and let you know where to find parts. Hugh MacKay and Gene Bender over there are really in-the-know on your tractor.

Contact www.external_link for good quality reprinted manuals. They are helpful in finding the correct manual as well.

external_link is a good place to find a manual. They are good people. For parts oemtractorparts.com has a lot of new reproduction parts some a little pricey but good and joesexternal_link deals with older tractor parts. I have delt and met all these people and highly recommend any one of them.

I have a couple of the manifolds but to find the tank and the carb and heat shield will be hard to get. I could make a heat shield and have the two input sediment assy but the dampers in the manifolds are stuck. I know a few guys who make the dual fuel ones run just for fun.
