Should I trade ?

I'm real satisfied with my Kubota M5040DT, but the service dept at the (1 hr away) dealership is not reliable: I've been waiting since August for the 100 hr. checkup and after 4 "reminders", they still haven't gotten around to me. My big fear is a tractor breakdown while haying. The local Deere dealer (whom I've bought equipment from) is very responsive and can be counted on to come in a pinch. They're offering a good deal with trade in for a new JD 5325. Would this be worth considering?

Print out your question, get an appointment with the OWNER of the Kubota dealership, present him with your written question. You will be amazed how much change you can effect in others when you communicate clearly. Tom

Contact the Kubota zone office (branch, region, or whatever it is called), it's in your manual. The JD dealer should be offering a good deal that 5325 was only a 2004-2005 model. What are the real problems with the Kubota, that you are looking at a trade with 100 hrs?? The tractors on our farm typically get to 10,000 before we start worrying about work being needed.

You need to be comfortable with your dealer.

On the other hand, 100 hours? How much money do you have to burn, if you can trade tractors at 100 hours????? I just got a newer tractor for my farm - it is a 1975 year model.

If you are in farm country, a dealer is running 12 hour days with _real_ issues, and would not have time for a mere checkup from August through November here - hay, tractor, & combine issues all day long. It would depend on the situation.......

Paul is correct. A good dealer is far too busy this time of year to do routine checkups. I'm certainly not trying to minimize your concerns for your tractor, but with only 100 hours on it, it's probably fine. I think you are worrying too much. With that said, if you think you'll get better service from the Deere guys, and since they ARE closer, I'd probably consider trading too if I had the money. But, it's like they say, it's the service AFTER the sale that matters most. How do you know they will be any better than the Kubota guys?
