Ford 2910 fuel pump leaking

I have a Ford 2910. Recently I noticed that diesel fuel was leaking out of the fuel pump area but could not pinpoint it. The other day I finally realized that the fuel was weeping out of the throttle control. It was not actually leaking, just seeping very slowly but enough that I get a wet spot under the tractor. The other strange thing is that it doesn"t always happen.

Anyway, I took the throttle control apart and tried to see if I could somehow seal it but couldn"t find a gasket or anything. It"s just a post that rotates but can also be pushed down into the pump.

Is there any way to seal it up? Would I have to take the fuel pump apart to do so? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Just a matter of terminology but you are possibly referring to the injector pump and the button you push in could be the cold start button,I think the problem maybe wear, my super major does the same but the remedy maybe too expensive. To refurbish a pump here in Oz is AUD 600-1200 {today US$375-750}

There are O-rings on the throttle shaft. I'm assuming that you haven't had the cover off the pump or you should have discovered that.
I'd suggest removing the pump from that tractor before opening the pump up. That's quite simple to do.
Clean the pump and when you open it, do so very carefully and note the position of the govenor spring under the cover before you disconnect it. Change the o-rings and then reinstall. Make sure you get the shutoff bar in correctly.
Also, be sure to note the location of the timing marks on the engine adapter plate relative to the mark on the pump ear before removal, thens et it back the same on reinstallation...

2910 has a rotatry CAV pump. No excess fuel control. Rod's advise is spot on. O-rings and cover gasket are in the New Holland parts system.

Make sure you have a fully vented fuel cap (no pressure/no vacuum). Sometimes people install gas caps made for cars and end up blowing the pump seals or something worse. I"ve even had the tractor dealer"s parts man try to sell me a locking gas cap. He didn"t know any better, I"m sure, but it"s too bad that the customer has to know everything there is to know about their tractor these days because fewer and fewer of the dealership employees and almost none of the auto parts store workers do.
