simplicity 725 slippage problem

i have a simplicity 725 and was wondering if anyone else has problems with belt slippage? it doesnt seem like the belt is loose when feeling it but when you try to go it slips alot. im gonna get a smaller belt to try to fix the problem. it is a brandnew belt on it right now that came with the tractor when i got it.

You may want to get an original equipment belt from your dealer. It will be the correct length and width. If you want to go aftermarket after that, you can use the OEM belt to match it up.Often times the "mayfit" belts are not the same size, quality,or composition, and stretch, slip or wear out prematurely

Locate a store that handles Dayco belts (Fleet Farm, etc.). Their catalog lists nearly every belt driven implement for Simplicity and others and prices are 1/3 cost of OEM. It helps to have model and serial numbers from deck and tractor. Before replacing the belt (if it's not glazed over or frayed) try cleaning up and deglazing the pulley surfaces with some emery cloth follow by cleaning with non-oily solvent. Even if you end up with a new belt you need to do this. Also make sure you're belt(s)are routed properly!

Good luck,
Bill

i had checked and found the origal specs for the tractor and the person who had the tractor before me put a belt on that is like 3 1/2 inchs too long. the original belt i beleive from what i found is suppost to be 43.3 and the belt on it is 46
