Truck tires??

Been asked and rehashed a million times here but here we go again. Decided this week I'm getting new tires on the F-150. I've never put new tires on this truck, just take-offs from other trucks. I've sandblasted and painted the wheels and I'm ready to go shopping.
I use the stock 235-75R 15 tires. I travel mostly blacktop but on occasion get in sticky situations where traction is a plus. I want an extra load tire. I put about 7,000 miles a year on this truck so I really don't need an 80,000 mile tire. I had a set of Firestone ATX tires on another truck years ago that wore like iron for several years until state inspection flagged them due to sidewall cracks.
What tires gave you the best service under similar conditions? (New York/Pennsylvania border driving area)

I had a set of Sport King tires on my truck once, I think they were made under the medalist brand name. They were about a 50,000 mile tire. Good road wear, great traction in mud & snow, and they really weren't that loud on the highway. They didn't cost too much either, but that was a few years ago.

This was on a 88 F150 2wd. We would haul 1 ton skids in the back from time to time and also loads of feildstone. Those tires held without issue, and now they're off the rim and waiting to get put on the haywagons.

I once had a 3/4 ton Dodge van used for my remodeling business. It had 15" tires on it. I needed extra load capacity, went with Cooper light truck tires. The installer warned about road noise, but I never did notice it. They worked very well for me! Greg

I have Cooper Discover ATR's I love them. Nice and quiet but have all-terrain tread and wear really well. I have them on a 99 Ram 1/2 ton 4x4. They work well and are very popular here in southern Wisconsin.

I have been extremly happy with BFG Rugged Trail, Long Trail, and the All-Terrain. These all wore very well with over 70,000 miles on every set. I use the long trail now mainly because I do not go off road.

go to your tire retailer and ask them but my suggestion would be to get something with a open shoulder and lug not a wide gap more a all terrain with a open shoulder that way they will be somewhat self cleaning so when you do hit a trail and it gets muddy you are less likely to get stuck and can get a economy brand
