JUST WANDERING ABOUT THESE TRACTORS? PROS AND CON, ARE PARTS HARD TO FIND? AND DID ALLIS MAKE THIS TRACTOR OR SOMEONE ELSE?? THANKS

From what I know these are a Fiat tractor. My father in law has one and it is a total piece of junk. I don't know how much of that is him and how much the tractor. Parts are expensive and mostly metric. I think he blows a head gasket every year.

They were built for Allis by Renault. Built from 1969 thru 1974 or so. The Perkins diesel in them is a very good motor. The rest of the tractor is good too but some of the parts are getting scarce. They are a good machine . Lots of features in the deluxe model. Mine has been a good tractor. Check out the hydraulic steering, the brakes and the clutches. These are the big wear items/hard to find parts.

Fiat made alot of Olivers but my 160 is Renault. Perkins engine, steers like a car, Cut 15 acres on 4 gallons and raked it and bunched the bales on 2 gallons -- 31 5'x6' rolls. Definately the tractor I would keep if I could have only one. Clutch and brakes can be relined, a perkins is a perkins, never needed any gear train parts, most engine externals can be rebuilt as well as pumps. I have found major parts for some serious junk over the years so I'm not worried about my 160.

I really like mine. Parts can be hard to find and expensive. Tractor is nice and has nice features. Starts easy in the cold weather. Dave
