Deer scraps Without Hijacking the thread.

Saw all those delicious ways to have good meals . but WE used to Can deer meat with a mix of beef.
Just wondering if anyone still Cans or cold packs anymore. or is this getting to be a lost art.

Real homemade bread from scratch is another lost item I miss, but the frozen variety isn't that bad.

Homemade Bread... yum yum.. warm and some good butter on it... um ummmmmmmmmmmmm! I remember my mother use to make it in coffee cans. Cans did not have the rib in them like today.
But when it was a baked in the oven.. the great smell would make you want to hang around and get in on it as soon as one could. For there was my sister and brother to and of course my Dad!
My wife just a few months ago surprised me and made one from scratch! I sure was happy smelling it and just like my mom's bread. I was ready and waiting for some as soon as I could get it. Had a knife and the butter out 15 minutes for it was ready. My wife , well she just laughed at me and said. Your going to have to just wait. Well I did and the homemade bread did not last me the whole day. Ha ha

My mmother-in-law made loaves of home made bread.
My mother made home made biscuits 3 times a day from scratch. Sure were good. Hal

My wife canned several jars of dead deer this week! Her mom even canned some deer hambuger.

My wife also makes homemade bread all the time.

My wife mixes the homemade wheatberry bread dough in the bread machine, makes rolls and bakes them in the oven then melts homemade butter on the top of them. We can a lot of vegetables and fruit. Freeze a lot too....James

My wife still makes homemade bread. Eight loaves at a time plus cinnamon rolls at the same time. Usually every other week. The best tasting and smelling stuff. Once in awhile she will use her bread machine to make a loaf but it is not the same as the kind she mixes up by hand from scratch.

Just had to add to this the best home bread I've ever had was by my grandma made by hand baked in a wood stove oven. I'll bet not not many here can rember something like this but I sure do.

I buy home made bread, baked in a wood stove,
from an Amish lady. It's a 2 pound loaf, for $2
and can't be beat!. I get 6 at a time, to freeze.
