Case Throttle levers

Can anyone tell me how to remove the throttle and hi-lo speed levers off of a 1958 Case 611. They look to be held on with roll pins but I wanted to make sure before I attempt to remove them.

If it is like the one on my 930 Case, it is a roll pin. Use a proper punch for roll pins or you will have a mess trying to remove. Ask me how I know.

At bottom of shaft is a double lock nut . You should loosen before you remove roll pin . Spring at bottom puts pressure on roll pin you want to remove an will make reasembly much easier.

One of mine is already mangled and I am probably going to have to drill it out. What happened when you used the wrong punch?

Carefully use a propane torch to take the temper out of the roll pins. get them hot but don't melt the aluminum levers. This will help loosen them and make them soft enough to drill if needed. Otherwise the drill bit(s) will break off in the hole and then you'll have 2 things to get out (benn there). Soak them too with PB plaster or Amsoil MP before heating.

Exact sized punch that fits the hole full size and good hammer. Some times (some times) they will come out like they are supposed to. I bet just about every one here has been there at one time or another.

Sometimes if you use a small pnumatic hammer to rattle the piolet punch a couple of times you will be amazed at how easy it comes out. Don't forget to use Breakaway ot a couple times for a couple days before you try to take it apart. Also use a backup hammer when you try to drive it out.(Takes the bounce out.) Armand
