My neighbor just gave me a Fairbanks-Morse Type: F.M. XR6B16 magneto, serial# 3585786. I have no idea what the mag would go on, but it appears to be for a 2 cylinder engine, as there are 2 lobes on the points cam. Also, crudely stamped on the magneto case are the numbers 56989 and 12 degrees. I wonder if it isn"t for an older Deere D or something of the like. It has a bolt flange like on the mag for my Deere B if it"s of any help.

Thanks y"all for the help.

Most Mag have 2 lobes on the point cam as the magnets have to rotate 180 degrees between cylinder firings. A mag for a 4 cylinder engine is driven at crankshaft speed. if the engine is a 6 cylinder with a mag the mag is driven at 1.5 times crankshaft speed.
