Fianlly after 2 week long rain outs and other short rain outs I finish the harvest yesterday.

Corn was still 20% moisture on the last day.

Here is a couple on pictures on the last day.

Gary,

Congrats. Know you are glad to get it finished. Last week daughter said the field behind her development was finished and plowed.

Cold here in SC. You, Allan, and me have about the same weather forecast for the rest of the week. Officially 22 here this AM, supposed to warm up to 50.

Glad to hear your done ! Always a relief to get the harvest finished, especially when it gets into mid-November. Hope you found good yields after the challenging growing season we had. We have 100 acres left, also @ 20% moisture, so it will take 3 or 4 days for the dryer to digest. Yields have been better than expected.

I finished 2 weeks ago. Just finished baling stalks about a half hour ago. Had to hit'em with the rake this morning and knock a light dusting of snow off,but they're done. Got about 140 to get out of the field now though. Have to do it on cold mornings while the ground is crusted.

Gary,
Did Billonthefarm come over to help you get it done? Just kidding - you had a rough year!

How did you get it done already? You must be more efficient than us. We have been getting about 13000 bu per day on average. I thought it was more than that until I figured it up. Some days close to 20,000 bu, and then next day it seems we have lots of moves, pigs to work with, or full bins, or dry corn to haul in so bin can be used again. What REALLY kills our average is when we have to go to town and quit when elevator closes.

Lost a whole day on a combine breakdown also. Had some 17% corn 2 weeks ago, but now back into 108 day stuff planted mid May, and it is 20-21% still. I have 5 in-bin dryers going now, but have them set on 70 degrees to try to save some $$. Was drying at 125 degrees a few weeks back, when we wanted to dry it fast and transfer it out, but now are on final fill, so drying slower.
Fall tillage is going slow--we have been going all night lately. I don't think we stand a chance of getting any ammonia on--may be lucky to get all pits pumped.

I'm not sure I wont need some help for this is done. We got the corn out two weeks ago but the weather just hasnt let me get much else done. Took a couple days to clean up and put things away and a couple days to get ready to wean calves while the weather was marginal. Its just been crappy enough weather its been hard to do much. Still alot of guys picking here yet because of it. Have been running the last few days ripping corn stalks and I saw some guys doing NH3 today so I had the fertilizer plant pull some tanks so I can start in the morning. Ground looks like it might go but if it gets as cold as they say tomorrow night, I will be done after one day. A low of 15 and high of 33 could be a problem. It would be nice to see ten days of nice weather.
