US/Canada Duty

I was looking at buying a tractor in Canada, was wondering if used farm equipment was still duty free. It is a Canadian built Cockshutt, if that changes anything. Will I have to pay sales tax or some similar tax before crossing back over into US. Was looking at crossing the Detroit/Windsor tunnel if that's alright with truck and trailer. First time buying a tractor in Canada, I just wanted to be prepared and know what to expect. Thank you

There is no duty or tax. Strongly suggest using either the bridge at Detroit or Port Huron. Tractor will need to be Clean...absolutely no organic dirt on it. Brokers charge about $60 to handle the paperwork...money well spent. Also there are new rules that U.S. customs must be formally notified a mininum of 2 hours before shipment arrives at border crossing.

no tax or duty on U.S. built tractors, but most of the time they never look at the serial tag, they will ask were your farm is.
