Tractor front tires

I need to replace the leakers on the front of my JD 401B industrial, The tires on it now are 750x16. I have a couple 235 85r 16 tires. If I install these tires it will raise the front about 3 in. Will I have a problem by doing this? I plan to use this tractor to pull my flail mower. stan

Car tires have little fabric and no steel in the sidewalls. It will hold up the tractor, but it will (opinion) be prone to puncture and not too great at cornering. Why not get a couple of ribbed tractor tires and be done with it. JimN

I run and have run truck tires on my ford 841 for years. 265/75R-r16 and have never had a problem with them. My 841 has a loader on it and the bigger tires sure help a lot plus being radials they hold up a lot better then the normal tractor tires do

They are a bit expensive but, I ended up going with the used aircraft tires from Gensco (Houston TX). My neighbor has them and hasn't had a flat in 10 years - even with messing around with Locust Trees - the kind with the foot long thorns. I put them on last year, after countless flats, and have benn "Flat-Free" since. Go to www.noflats.com

I agree about car tires... but I've never seen 235 85 16's on cars, just trucks. Those should hold up well, especially if they are load range E like I have on my 3/4 ton. Tri-ribs would be much better for steering traction, though.

When this tractor starts earning it's keep I will feel better about spending some money on tires. I plan to hook up a 7ft flail mower to it next year. Stan
