pto problems on a Case 2290

i have tore the pto apart two times and the key keeps breaking when i hook it up to the bush hog. Has anyone else had this problem?

Be sure that you are useing a hardened key. Some dealers have key selections of softer Rockwell than you need, get OEM. Check to make sure your slip clutch on your Bush Hog is not rusted fast , this causes a real bad shock on the driveline as the "cushioning" effect is gone if it can't slip a bit on startup or if you hit something solid. Also see that your shaft in the tractor does not have a damaged keyway or the key does not fit the gear tightly. This has been an occasional but not constant problem with that pto assy.
