Huffy Hawk Riding Tractor

Anyone know anything about these little tractors?

As a kid I used to drool over the Huffy riding mower that the local hardware store had for sale. With me being the youngest and the only one home, when I received my draft notice my dad purchased that riding mower so that he could mow our homestead easier and quicker. He deserved it as he was age 66.

Eventually I wound up back in my home area and he/we used that mower on his lawn for over a decade before I finally bought him a different one. Really a good mower. I sold the Huffy for $50 as I moved, didn't need it, and the engine was worn out. HOWEVER I think I would almost give that now for the bullet proof transmission it had in it. Really a good one. The engine on ours was a 5 hp B&S. I don't remember the cut but it was perhaps 26". Good simple mowers in my opinion but you felt kind of skrunched up while mowing.

Any idea how old this thing is? Sounds like this Hawk is just like the one you used to have. Thank you for your reply... great story!

Dad purchased ours in 1966 but it had set in the dealer show room for at least two years. I'm thinking the one shown is just a tad bit later as the transmission shift lever is different.

my dad has two huffy mowers that type but his seem bigger than the one pictured.had them for a long time done a lot of mowing.think he got them in mid 70s
