1945 OC-3 Oliver Crawler

This crawler sat for 14 years. It took me,two months to get it all in operating order. That was 5 yrs.ago.The owner ran it for a yr.He left it parked at his feed lot in the mtns.It must have had a lot of water in it.The sediment bowl froze and broke, the H2O in the carb, froze and bent the outside float.Myself and another man, have rebuilt the Carb. The engine will start and run, but then out of the blue, the engine Quits running. It has a rebuilt Mag. with lots of spark, and the Carb. bowl is full of gas. This Carb. is one that has no high speed needle valve.Does any one have any ideas, or can tell me what carb. will work with high speed needle. Thanks

It is necessary to determine if there is still a hot blue spark when it quits. An ignition failure is as common as fuel. Just because it has fuel in the bowl does not mean it has enough to run. See if you can urn a gallon out of the fuel line into a clean gas can. If a gallon will come out, it isn't the tank and lines. It still could be trash at the needle. Good luck, and let us know (an OC3 was the first tracked thing I drove. Fun and handy, if under powered) JimN

Having a bowl full of gas don't not rule out that it might not be getting gas. My OC3 has done it many times over the years. That because there is no sreen on the fuel pickup where the sediment bowl screws into the tank. One little piece of leaf or debris is all it takes to close off all fuel flow. Bowl stays full, but there is no flow and the engine dies. Then, let it sit for a few minutes, and it will start right up again.
I finally fixed mine by making my own screened-intake fitting.
