hydraulic fluid

I have a IH 806D that is low on hydraulic fluid (leaking brake). This is my first tractor and I know very little about them. I went to Farm & Home the other day to get some hydraulic fluid. I saw that there are different numbers buckets. I assume that the different numbers are the weight of the fluid. Is there a number that I should be looking for? I looked in the manual and it was no help.

Thank you

You have to read on the bucket and see if it is a replacement for Hytran fluid.

It will likely be called UTF

Some fluid is just for hyd. Many tractors combine the hyd & the rear end gears. These gears will not get properly lubed on just hyd fluid. You need Universal Trans-Hydraulic fluid. Perhaps in the fine print, but somewhere, it will list what tractors it is universally compatable with. It should list the Hytran, or Case/IHC compatability on it.

You can find a generic Case/IH formulated UTF as well - designed for just Case/IH tractors.

And of course, a Case dealer will have the 'real thing' on the shelf.

The brake is easy to fix there are 6 bolts on the housing to pull and the one in the platform. Don't forget the line then there is an o-ring on the plate in the side of the transmission housing there it will have the o-ring just replace it after cleaning it up put in your new disc's and the spacer plates check the little auto adjusters tighten averthing back up and your good to go after you bleed the air.
As for the oil we buy a tractor hydraulic fluid by the barrel.
