1940 farmall H w/ sloppy shifter.

I understand whats going on under the shifter , so I search for the proper slider to change gears. Trouble is my wife has no idea and consequetly locks the tranny. I suspect the pin that holds the shift lever in is wore out. How can I repair this.

I did it by divorce, but it sure cost me a whale of a lot of money. :>(

The bottom of the shifter needs to brought back to spec.A weld build up and grinding back to spec should clear up the problem.Hope this helps I am sure somebody will explain it better.
I like Allan's method better.

The cross pin in shifter is worn, 1/2 is to small,5/8 is to big. I used a metric bolt,it was just right.
